During
May 2003, familiarisation courses were run at Sedgewall
for Maintenance Personnel from UK, Gibraltar, Ascension
Island, and the Falkland islands.
The RAF have 3 differently configured Zetron Paging
systems ranging from the single encoder and transmitter
type, though to dual encoder/dual transmitter setup.
Tait transmitters are used throughout including the
Store and Forward units used.
The aim of this course was to give an overview of paging
and to teach the attendees the basics of the Zetron
diagnostic software and its relevance to the RAF configuration,
plus an introduction to reading system software and
logs/traffic reports.
These systems are supported from the UK and the RAF
have purchased a Zetron Model 2200 terminal and peripheral
equipment, including a 100Watt Tait transmitter, to
use as a filter test rig. The staff based in the UK
now have this test rig installed and in use.
These courses were of 2 days duration. More detailed
courses are available and these can be tailored to suit
each individual requirement.
